Mind Trail
A learning adventure where every checkpoint is a puzzle to solve
Mind Trail is a learning game for kids on Android and iOS that turns maths, logic, reading and science into an adventure across seven illustrated worlds. Players follow a branching map where every checkpoint is a mini-game: characters ask the question and the answers are objects you tap or drag. Progress, rewards and collections are saved on the device, with optional accounts and a backup to move to a new phone.
The challenge
Most learning apps for kids feel like a quiz with a coat of paint, and children notice quickly, so they stop playing and stop learning. Parents want screen time that actually teaches something, without design tricks aimed at their child. For the game to work, learning had to be the way you move forward, and a child's progress and rewards could never be lost.
The approach
Every checkpoint is a different hands-on mini-game, from crossing stepping stones to brewing potions, so practice feels like play. Characters speak the questions and the answers are acted out, with hints, helper companions and read-aloud prompts for younger players. Boss battles, a sticker book, companions and a daily chest give children reasons to come back, and a calmer reduced-motion mode is there for those who need it. Progress is saved on the device, rewards are never lost or doubled even if a child closes the app mid-game, and families can move progress to a new phone. Ads and analytics follow child-directed settings.
The result
Mind Trail is a playable adventure with seven worlds, 19 mini-games and 110 checkpoints that kids can enjoy offline. Children get a steady loop of practice and reward, and parents get learning time they can trust. The game is not released yet, and commissioned artwork is the next step.
