Configuration Manager

One console to configure, deploy and monitor every project server

Configuration Manager is an internal console for managing application settings, secrets, domains and deployments across environments, so a whole release can be run from the browser instead of a server terminal.

The challenge

Every change to a live app, such as updating a setting, restarting a service, adding a domain or renewing a certificate, meant logging into a server by hand. It was slow, easy to get wrong, and only a few people knew how to do it safely, which made them a bottleneck for every release. Founders and product owners had no way to handle even simple changes themselves.

The approach

I turned those manual server tasks into simple, guarded actions in a web console. Settings and secrets are organised by project and environment and can be copied between them, services can be started, stopped and checked, domains and SSL certificates are added in a few clicks, and releases and database backups are handled in the same place. Every action is a plain button or form, role-based access decides who can do what, and safety checks stop a deployment from touching anything it should not, so non-technical teammates can use it with confidence.

The result

Settings, domains, service restarts, logs, backups and releases now happen in one place, with the same steps every time. People with no technical background, such as a CEO or product owner, can manage and handle routine changes on their own, which is a big win for a startup without a dedicated DevOps team. Releases are faster, mistakes are rarer, and the tool even deploys itself through the same release flow.

Key features

Config by project and environment

Edit secrets and appsettings per project and per environment, import values from another environment, and push them to the server.

Server and domain control

Start, stop and restart services, read service and web server logs, adjust web server settings, and add domains with SSL from the browser.

Releases and backups

Upload a release, deploy it, and create or download database backups for MSSQL and MySQL projects.
