Class Calendar

A teaching planner built around the Nepali calendar

Class Calendar plans a whole semester of classes on the Nepali (Bikram Sambat) calendar. It maps each chapter's class plan onto real class days, skips holidays and leave, and keeps syllabus, topics and attachments in one place.

The challenge

Nepali dates, public holidays and personal leave all move the teaching schedule. Lunar festivals can shift by a day. A plain spreadsheet could not re-flow a semester without breaking classes I had already taught.

The approach

The planner places each chapter's classes, in order, onto real class days and skips holidays and leave automatically. Classes already taught or pinned never move, so re-planning only changes what is still ahead. Dates show in both the Nepali and English calendars, festivals whose dates can shift are flagged for a quick check, and each class keeps its topics, syllabus and attachments together.

The result

I now plan the full course once, and re-plan in a click when a holiday or leave day changes. Each class has a page with its topics, syllabus and chapter progress, so I know what to teach on any given day.
